Concept
The project for the complete reconstruction of the TUI Blue Makarska redefines an existing tourist complex on the Makarska Riviera. Commissioned by TT Hotels Croatia, the intervention transforms the site into a contemporary resort integrated within its Mediterranean landscape.
The concept is based on the idea of recomposition rather than extension—a complete rethinking of spatial organization, architecture, and landscape to create a coherent, high-quality hospitality environment.
Purpose
The project includes the full reconstruction of the bungalow and apartment zones, as well as the hospitality and recreational facilities. Existing structures are largely demolished and replaced with new accommodation units and public amenities that meet contemporary standards of comfort and tourism.
The project is expanded to include upgraded leisure facilities, while parts of the hospitality offer are opened to external visitors, strengthening the connection between the resort and the local community.

Spatial Strategy
A key design objective was to provide sea views from all accommodation units. The layout is reorganized to follow the natural topography of the site, ensuring unobstructed sightlines toward the Adriatic while improving spatial clarity and orientation.
The redesign of the peninsula (cape) enhances fluidity of movement, visual connections, and functional zoning. Circulation paths are simplified and clarified, allowing intuitive navigation throughout the complex.
Architecture and Materials
The architectural language is rooted in the Mediterranean context, using authentic colors, natural materials, and tactile textures that resonate with the local environment. The design avoids visual excess, instead relying on proportion, light, and materiality to achieve a refined and timeless character.
The buildings are carefully integrated into the landscape, minimizing visual impact while reinforcing the identity of a contemporary coastal resort.

Landscape
Landscape design plays a central role in the project. The intervention respects the existing natural context, preserving the site's character while introducing new layers of vegetation and outdoor spaces.
Green areas, terraces, and pathways are designed as an extension of the architecture, creating a seamless transition between built and natural environments.
Experience
The standard of accommodation is elevated through the introduction of swim-up pools directly connected to selected units, enhancing privacy and comfort. The overall spatial experience combines openness toward the sea with a sense of retreat and exclusivity.

Vision
The project sets a new benchmark for resort redevelopment on the Adriatic coast, transforming an outdated complex into a contemporary destination that seamlessly integrates architecture, landscape, and hospitality into a unified experience.ed to selected units, enhancing privacy and comfort. The overall spatial experience combines openness toward the sea with a sense of retreat and exclusivity.
